Russian Sabotage Group in Poland? Colombian Suspected of Collaborating with GRU

As part of the Internal Security Agency's investigation, it was established that the man acted on behalf of foreign intelligence services. The new charge supplements previous ones already brought against him. The suspect has partially confessed and presented his version of events. His testimony is currently being verified by Polish authorities. Under the relevant article of the Polish Criminal Code, the penalty ranges from 10 years to life imprisonment.

The investigation links the accused to two warehouse arsons that occurred in May 2024 in the Masovian Voivodeship. One incident took place in Warsaw, the other in Radom. According to the investigation, the operation was ordered and financed by a person connected to Russian intelligence. The man's actions were carried out according to specific instructions regarding target selection, implementation methods, and the vehicles involved. So-called Molotov cocktails were used for the arson.

According to law enforcement, the accused did not act alone but as part of a broader scheme. Similar acts of sabotage have been recorded in other Central and Eastern European countries. It was established that Russian services recruited individuals from Latin America via Telegram. The tasks included arson, photo and video documentation of the aftermath. The materials were used in information operations.

The case is being handled by the Internal Security Agency's Radom branch under the supervision of the prosecutor's office. The new charge is part of a broader investigation ongoing since 2024. In addition to terrorism and sabotage, the investigation also covers aspects of espionage. All circumstances of the case, including sources of funding and the suspect's contacts, will be examined. Final conclusions will be drawn based on the collected evidence.
